Downtown Holiday Open House & Sunday Art Walk

This Sunday officially kicks off the holiday season in Culpeper with the Downtown Holiday Open House. Here's the rundown:


Start your holiday shopping in Historic Downtown Culpeper. You’ll find something for everyone on your gift list in one of our many specialty shops: from delicious chocolates, unique art, distinctive clothing, and specialty foods to bird feeders and snow shovels, plus so much more. So, come enjoy the convenience of shopping downtown and the personal service our merchants always provide!

-In-Store Specials ~ Door/Storefront Decorating Contest ~ 
-Culpeper Downtown Sunday Art Walk ~
-Carriage Rides: 1pm – 4pm, departing from the depot ~
-Trolley Rides: noon – 5:00 PM, various stops throughout downtown ~ 
-Culpeper Garden Club Wreaths and Centerpieces at the Hazel River Armory ~

Join us for a Community Tree Lighting with festive carols from Blue Ridge Chorale of Culpeper. Enjoy hot cider and cookies baked by Brownie Troop 381 to complete this wonderful day at 5:30 p.m.!

It also happens to be the kick-off for the for the Sunday Art Walk! Here's the info:


Sundays in Culpeper are for art lovers! Stroll through shops and galleries displaying, selling, and sometimes hosting artists in their process. All participating locations are open (at least) from 1P.M. to 4 P.M. and include shops, boutiques, and artist’s dens that are destinations unto themselves. 

-Fika Gallery & Design - In addition to featuring the art of many local artists, serving refreshments, and candies from My Secret Stash this Sunday, we'll be hosting new-to-Culpeper pop art/cartoon caricaturist Alicia Guy who will be taking on the spot orders (on a first come, first served basis) and creating her works on premises. Talk about the perfect holiday gift - Dad as Superman or Mom as Wonder Woman... (Note: if you bring a picture for Alicia to work from, Mom and Dad won't have to be there though, of course, we'd love to see them, too.)
-Pachamama Art Studio and Gallery – Visit with resident artist Jaime Olea creating his own, original, live art in front of his studio. Stop by for one of a kind artistic bookmarks created from original canvas paintings. Enjoy 20% off in the entire Gallery
-Sara Schneidman Gallery – Opening of Trish Crowe's watercolors of the places she loves. Please stop in to see this beautiful addition to the gallery.
-The Loft - Featuring artist-photographer Sarah Young Clingman. 15% off MOST inventory items (excluding items $25 or less)! Refreshments. 
-Museum of Culpeper History - George Washington’s Thanksgiving weekend at the Burgandine House; living historians discussing holiday customs, Colonial foods & drinks, and games. No extra charge to attend. Sale on all items in the Museum Shop; special of the day: history books on “deep” sale.
-145 Art & Design Studio – Hands on art project.

-Second Look Studio - Stop in and meet makeup artist Monica Huseby for a makeover with the French Accents collection from Votre Vu. We also have new artwork just in from local artists Dylan Dymond and Caroline Mankins!
