This year marked our 3rd annual Davis Street Clean-up (in celebration of Earth Day). I look forward to this event every year, because it means that our employees, customers and friends join together to make sure our incredible little street is litter-free. In all honesty, our clean-up is 99% cigarette butt pick-up. However, we make sure that on this day Davis Street is cigarette-butt-free. Thank goodness.
This day is special to me for another reason, too. It means I get to see my most caring-about-the-earth customer, Max. He may be little, but he might just be the most convincing Earth Day "Street Preacher" I have ever met.
Max is my champion among champions. Last year, he stole my heart when he looked up at me and, and profoundly stated, "Kelsey, I hope one day we will live in a world where we don't have to pick up cigarette butts off the ground." How could anyone argue with that? And the best part about Max's passion for our planet is that it isn't an act. He means every word. His parents, Elana and James, are raising a little boy, who loves this planet, wants it to be clean, and isn't afraid to tell you about it!
So, Max, this post is for you. Thank you, for reminding me why I care about our planet. Thank you, for sticking up for what you believe in. And, thank you, for being a role-model for all of us. I hope I grow up to be just like you.
