....and we're back!

In the craziness of the Christmas rush, this poor little blog got a little neglected. But, have no fear...we are back on track!  You will once again start to get your daily updates about what's happening in our roost.

In honor of our return to the blog, we're happy to announce some BIG news.  After four years and much deliberation, we will start carrying shoes in February. Just like the rest of our items, these aren't just any shoes...we are carrying Sseko Designs sandals, and boy do they have an awesome story.  In a nutshell, "Sseko Designs uses fashion to provide employment and scholarship opportunities to women pursuing their dreams and overcoming poverty." How awesome is that? Here's their bio:


Sseko Designs is a sandal company based in Uganda. We make beautiful leather sandals with interchangeable fabric straps that can be styled in hundreds of ways.

Sseko began as a way to generate income for high potential, talented young women to continue on to university. Sseko has graduated three classes of women. Every woman who has graduated from Sseko is currently pursuing her college degree.

In addition to our university-bound team, Sseko also employs a full-time team of women from all walks of life. By creating an environment of dignity, honor, creativity and dedication, Sseko Designs provides the opportunity for women in East Africa to end the cycle of poverty and create a more equitable society.

We believe that every woman has a dream. When she is given the opportunity to pursue those dreams, we are collectively walking towards a brighter and more just and beautiful world.

We believe that our stuff has a story and that every dollar you spend is a vote for the way you think the world should work.

With that unbelievable story comes an even better shoe. These leather-bottom sandals can be styled in more ways than you can count. You could literally wear your sandals a different way every day this summer. Sseko was kind enough to send me a test pair this fall, and I had a blast styling and re-styling my shoes. The leather sandals come in black & brown, and we have TONS of strap options on their way.
