Local and Fabulous

By now, you know how much we love supporting local artists. One of our favorites is Kristin at Crooked Oak Designs. She make the most unique, upcycled handbags from cool materials like coffee sacks and bike tires. That's right, bike tires. Our fav around here is this little gem:

Per usual, I think the artist describes their work the best, so here's her description:

This bag is really one of a kind!

Made from recycle burlap coffee bags. This bag features 2 pockets on the exterior that are perfect for placing your everyday items.

What really makes this bag stand out from the crowd are the recycled bicycle parts that finish off the exterior. Snaps are set against road bicycle tires and inner tubes to give them extra durability. The handle is made from bicycle inner tubes, and stitched to allow the rubber to have some play but not too much. Finally mountain bike tires have been cut down to make the most unique tread you have ever seen on a handbag!

The interior is lined with a heavy duty canvas. The bottom also features padding from recycled high density foam military sleeping rolls so sensitive electronics will not be shocked or jostled around.

The finished bag measures 11"(l) x 5.5" (w) x 13" (h) with a handle that stands 12in. off of te top of the bag.

Please note: Coffee bags come in many shapes, sizes and colors! When you order I will select one at random to create your bag. If you have a preference on color or the amount of printing found on the bag, I will be more then happy to try and accommodate your request. Just leave a note to seller - it's that easy!

We have a few in stock right this second, but they usually don't last very long. Make sure to snag yours today, before they're all gone!
