Chocolate and Steel is a jewelry collection created by Christine Street. It began roughly in 2005. I honestly can’t remember exactly when my hobby became my business. I have always made things. Whether it was clothing for my barbies out of paper towels or sewing clothes for myself. I was half way through college when I realized that I wanted to do something creative as a career.
The Chocolate and Steel studio is run in the most eco-friendly way possible. Metal scraps are saved and reclaimed, no harsh chemicals are used and my studio is powered by 100% renewable energy sources including wind and solar power. All metals offered are reclaimed from previous manufacturing processes.
We are selling her "fine silver" necklaces. Here's her description of the metal used: "Fine Silver is also known as .999fs, which translates to 99.9% silver. This is the purest silver you can get. It has a bright white appearance and does not tarnish as readily as sterling silver. It’s also a great choice for people that are highly sensitive to base metals. While fine silver does not tarnish as quickly as sterling, over time it will take on dirt and oils. If you need to bring back its luster, you may clean using a store bought silver cleaner or scrub with baking soda. The fine silver I use has been reclaimed from previous manufacturing processes such as film negatives and circuitry. This is an eco-friendly selection. The chain included is sterling silver and made in the USA."
